You don’t have to only dream about fresh and clean towels. Towels like those in hotel rooms can be yours too, and without great effort or unnecessary chemicals. The same applies to dishcloths, which for housewives are consumable goods, because now and then we wipe away a really stubborn stain that clings to dishcloths as if glued on. You may have seen a large number of guides on the internet for perfectly clean towels and dishcloths, but they are quite time-consuming or not effective. Try this method, which takes only a short time and can be tried by everyone, as it is not financially demanding. Try it yourself and you surely won’t regret it. Your dishcloths and towels will be free of odors and stains that are absorbed into the fabric every day.
What you’ll need for washing
- Laundry detergent ¾ cup
- Baking soda 1 teaspoon
- Bleach ¾ cup
- Sunflower oil 1 tablespoon
Instructions
Take a basin and fill it with three liters of hot water. Then add the laundry detergent, baking soda, bleach (you can buy it for 30 crowns at the drugstore) and the sunflower oil. Stir with an old wooden spoon. You may find the use of sunflower oil for whitening and properly cleaning stains rather incomprehensible, but trust that this method proves to be very effective. Thanks to the oil, greasy stains on the fabric will dissolve. Once the ingredients are mixed, place the towels or dishcloths into the basin. Now leave the textiles in the basin so that all dirt can dissolve. You can leave the submerged cloths overnight or at least for five hours. Then pour the towels or cloths into the bathtub, rinse them lightly with the shower and put them into the washing machine and set it to a 60 °C cycle. After washing, put the towels or cloths into the dryer — they’ll be wonderfully soft. If you don’t have a dryer, place the textiles in the sun. The towels or cloths will be wonderfully clean, and moreover will smell fresh.
