Roses are the beauties of every garden. It is an impressive shrub that every gardener loves. And if you want to so-called multiply your rose — graft it, be prepared in the spring. We have one method for you that always succeeds. A cut on a rose can be made anywhere. Even the thickness of the cut-off twig can be as thin as a pencil. Grafting is suitable to perform at the end of autumn, before the arrival of the first frosts.

Prepare for grafting

Prepare several twigs, not just one. Do not cut the twigs with a straight cut, but with an oblique one, and at a distance of at least one centimeter from the lowest bud. It does not matter whether the twigs are two centimeters wide or half a centimeter, but they must be at least twenty centimeters long and have at least four buds. Then remove all remaining leaves from the branches.

Rooting stimulator

Now prepare the stimulator. The manufacturer’s box always lists the ratio of water to stimulator; follow the instructions exactly as stated on the package. Then dip the so-called cuttings into the stimulator solution. Twigs have two cut sides, one slanted, which you will dip into the liquid, and one straight, which you should treat against mold and pest infestation. Wax is best for this step. You can take a candle, light it, and drip the melted wax onto the cut area. Leave the cuttings in the solution for several hours. Meanwhile, prepare the soil. Before planting in the ground you must dig a hole at least ten centimeters deep. The length will depend on the number of twigs. Pour at least one centimeter of sand into the hole.

Planting

As soon as you pull the twigs out of the solution, add water to the hole and plant the cuttings. They should be placed at a 45° angle and should have distances of at least seven centimeters between them. After covering with soil, enough of the twigs should protrude so that only two buds are outside. We recommend that you cover the roses with a crate, polystyrene, or another cover and leave them prepared like this until spring.
