Most commercially available disinfectants contain a range of health-damaging chemicals. These ingredients are a threat not only to humans but also to the environment, because soil and water become contaminated through waste pipes and leakage from the sewer into the surrounding area. But how do you clean stubborn stains and remove bacteria and viruses from surfaces? Simply make your own disinfectant from cheap and readily available ingredients, and you can even scent it to your liking!
Ingredience
What will you need to prepare your own disinfectant that will clean and refresh kitchen or bathroom surfaces? Prepare:
- 160 g baking soda,
- 60 ml lemon juice,
- 500 ml apple cider vinegar,
- 100 ml hydrogen peroxide (3 %),
- 15-20 drops of your favorite essential oil.
How to prepare the disinfectant?
Prepare a sufficiently large glass container and pour in all the ingredients. A chemical reaction may occur while mixing them, don’t worry — the liquid will settle after a while. The solution is ready to use. It can be poured into a spray bottle and sprayed onto tiles or surfaces you need to clean. Apple cider vinegar also allows the removal of limescale, and the included hydrogen peroxide will easily deal with rust stains.
Baking soda s vinegar
Other great helpers for cleaning the home are baking soda and ordinary white vinegar. Baking soda has antibacterial properties and can also absorb odors. It is suitable for cleaning all household surfaces and is very effective for cleaning greasy pots, the sink, or a clogged drain. Similarly, vinegar has antibacterial effects, dissolves fats and grease, and removes limescale. In combination with baking soda it is excellent for cleaning the grout between tiles in the bathroom or toilet. Adding steeped lemon peels or lemon juice enhances the effects and releases a pleasant citrus scent during cleaning.
