If you are among the people who suffer from cracked lips and whose constant reapplication doesn’t help, you surely know how unpleasant and tricky the situation is. Cracked lips can cause several problems. Try drinking more water than you currently do, as lips can also crack due to body dehydration. As for what to do next, skip all creams and deer tallow that don’t help as they should and instead make this homemade remedy that will really help with cracked lips. What you will need and the procedure are described below.

Preparing the lip cream

If you would like to make a lip cream that will really hydrate your lips sufficiently, you will need only 1 teaspoon of quality sea salt and 1 teaspoon of food-grade coconut oil. Thoroughly mix both ingredients in a small bowl. Let the preparation rest for about half an hour so that the salt can fully dissolve. Then simply dip your finger into the mixture and, using gentle circular motions, rub it into your lips for about a minute. There is no need to rinse the cream off; it will be fully absorbed into the lips.

Recipe for a homemade lip balm

Yes — you don’t have to buy a lip balm in the store. Make your own, one that will be 100% natural and much more effective. You will need only these few basic ingredients: 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, 1 tablespoon of olive oil and ¾ tablespoon of liquid honey. Thoroughly mix all these ingredients and you will have a great lip balm. Keep it in a small container with a lid. You don’t have to use it only a few times a day; on the contrary, you can use it all day according to your needs and it doesn’t have to be stored in the refrigerator. Just bear in mind that outside the fridge it will melt on hot summer days just like ordinary purchased deer tallow or a store-bought lip balm. Fat, after all, tends to melt due to heat, which can be a drawback of all fat-based products. In summer it may therefore be advantageous to store the balm somewhere cooler, if possible.
