Radishes are very healthy, full of vitamins and minerals. Moreover, they can be grown almost all year round and do not require any special care. They will grow for you even in a small space or in a window box. It’s enough to follow simple tips. To make your radishes grow quickly, we recommend using the hot-water planting method. It won’t harm the radishes; on the contrary, it speeds up their growth.

Don’t be afraid of hot water

Before planting, soak the seeds for a while in water. Then mix them with humus and sand in a 1:5:5 ratio. Prepare rows for planting in the bed and pour hot water over them. Sprinkle the mixture you prepared a moment ago into the rows and cover them with food-grade plastic film. Smooth gently and continue until you have used up the mixture.

After sowing, wait a while and remove the film. Pour hot water over the rows with dissolved manganese. Cover the radishes again with the food-grade plastic film and secure the edges. By following these tips you will obtain a rich harvest in a very short time. This is the most common way to plant early radishes immediately after the last snow has melted from the garden.

Why grow radishes?

Radishes are definitely worth growing. They are a valuable source of many beneficial substances, have antibacterial properties, act against colds and support circulation. They work preventively against urinary and kidney stones. They are also recommended for asthmatics or heavy smokers, as they can dissolve phlegm and make expectoration easier. They are very suitable for diets because they support metabolism.

Radishes are best eaten raw, for example in a salad or on open-faced sandwiches. However, they can also be added to soups or cooked dishes. Radishes are commonly available in stores all year round, but home-grown ones are far better. That way you can be sure they are not contaminated with chemical sprays or fertilizers and that they will contain all the necessary vitamins.
