Don’t know what to surprise your Sunday guests with? Or what to bake for the family as a dessert after lunch? Prepare a simple and very tasty cake that will definitely impress every diner and everyone will ask for the recipe. You only need a few basic ingredients. Prepare:
- 2 eggs
- 120 g sugar
- 160 g flour
- 8 g baking powder
- 125 ml oil
- 2 g salt
- 10 g vanilla sugar
- 25 g cocoa
For the cream you will need:
- 2 eggs
- 50 g corn starch
- 500 ml milk
- 50 g butter
- 250 ml whipping cream
- 120 g powdered sugar
- 10 g vanilla sugar
Begin by preparing the cream
First prepare the cream. Beat the eggs, half of the sugar and the starch together until smooth. Then heat the milk in a pot and, while stirring constantly, add the remaining sugar and the vanilla sugar. Then slowly add the beaten mixture of eggs and starch and stir well until the cream thickens. There should be no lumps in it.
After five minutes add the butter to the cream and wait until it melts. Stir, remove from the heat and cover with cling film. While the cream is cooling, prepare the sponge batter onto which you will spread the cream. First take the eggs and whisk them with the vanilla sugar, regular sugar and a little salt.
Decorate after cooling
Then add the milk and butter to the batter. Mix everything until smooth. In a bowl mix all the remaining dry ingredients and then add them to the wet mixture. Mix well so the batter comes together and is nice and smooth. Line a cake pan with baking paper and pour the prepared batter into it. Bake for twenty minutes at 180 °C.
The magic of this cake lies in the decoration. When the cake is baked, let it cool a little. Then scoop out several small holes with a spoon. Crumble the cake pieces you removed into small crumbs. Fill the holes with the cream and spread it on top of the cake as well. Sprinkle the entire dessert with the remaining crumbs. Let the cake sit in the refrigerator for several hours.
