Are you planning a full-day trip and want to have a hearty, simple snack on hand that everyone will enjoy and that will also keep them full? Prepare this excellent pork pâté, which stays fresh for a long time and is suitable for all kinds of bread.
Ingredients and method of preparing homemade pork pâté
To prepare the homemade pâté you will need the following ingredients:
- pork belly – 1,5 kg
- pork shoulder – 1,5 kg
- poultry liver – 1 kg
- onions – 5 pcs
- garlic – 8 cloves
- almonds – 2 handfuls
- salt – to taste
- pepper – to taste
Procedure for preparing pork pâté
You can prepare the pâté easily using the following procedure:
- Clean the meat and cut it into smaller pieces.
- Mix them and place them into a deep baking dish.
- Clean the poultry livers and add them to the pork – mix everything thoroughly so that the individual pieces are evenly distributed in the volume of the baking dish.
- Peel the onions and slice them into half-moons.
- Just peel the garlic and leave the cloves whole.
- Add the onions and garlic to the baking dish and mix all the ingredients thoroughly so that they are evenly distributed on the dish.
- Pour a little water over the mixture and place the baking dish in an oven preheated to 180 °C.
- Bake for approximately 80 minutes – until the meat is completely tender.
- After slight cooling, grind the meat with the livers together with the almonds – if you want to have pieces of meat in the pâté, set some aside, cut the pieces to the desired size and add them to the ground mixture.
- Season the prepared mixture with salt and pepper and mix thoroughly.
- Prepare your canning jars – wash them thoroughly and let them drain.
- Divide the prepared mixture into the jars, seal them and sterilize.
Sterilization can be done in various ways depending on which containers (or lids) you use. When using metal lids you can sterilize the jars on the stove or in the oven (they must always be placed upright in a larger container in water). Once the water starts to boil, 30 minutes is sufficient for canning. After canning, the jars should be placed upside down on a towel and left to cool. Jars with plastic lids can be canned in the microwave.
