The Arabic suhoor dessert is one of the main meals that Muslims consume in the blessed month of Ramadan, and it is usually between the beginning of the night and its end before the dawn prayer. It is not an obligation for a Muslim, but rather a prophetic sunnah that some may neglect without knowing its meaning and the benefits for the person who is fasting. Today we look at this easy and economical milk-and-banana dessert that you should try if you like unconventional recipes.
What will you need?
This unconventional dessert from abroad consists of a dough, caramel sauce and decoration. For the caramel sauce you will need a cup and a half of water, a tablespoon of corn starch and half a cup of granulated sugar. That’s all. The decoration is, of course, up to you, but the best is banana sliced into rounds and crunchy hazelnuts. If you want to add pieces of chocolate or another kind of nuts, that’s up to you. For the dough have on hand:
- butter – 60 g,
- flour – 1/2 cup,
- milk – 1/2 liter,
- sugar – 1/2 cup, vanilla sugar – 1 teaspoon.
Preparation method
In a larger pan, melt the butter over low heat and then add half a cup of flour to it. Stir thoroughly until it comes together. Then add half a liter of milk, half a cup of sugar and a pinch of vanilla sugar. Stir thoroughly again. In another pot put half a cup of sugar, place it over low heat and wait until it dissolves. Then add to it the mixture of water with a large tablespoon of corn starch and mix well until everything combines. The cream must have a homogeneous texture.
Take a glass dish for sweets, pour the creamy batter into it, add the caramel sauce and decorate the dessert with banana slices and crushed hazelnuts. Put the whole dish in the refrigerator and let it set. Serve this unconventional dessert to your guests cold so they can fully enjoy it. We wish you a good appetite and much success in making the delicious sweet.
