Nobody wants to see weeds in their garden for sure. Removing them usually takes a lot of time, effort and work. Besides, it’s an activity that nobody really enjoys. To speed up and make this unpleasant task more pleasant, you can use one of the reliable and tested methods to get rid of weeds for a long time.
Baking soda, salt or alcohol
Baking soda is definitely the most popular method to remove weeds without chemicals. It is ideal for use along sidewalks and terrace surfaces without damaging the surrounding environment. Simply sprinkle the surface with a few handfuls of baking soda and the weeds will disappear. It’s important not to sprinkle it on other plants. Therefore be careful that it’s not too windy and that it doesn’t rain during application, otherwise it won’t have any effect.
You can also use salt. Boil two parts water with one part salt. Then pour the mixture directly onto the weeds. You can also sprinkle salt on the weeds on the sidewalk and then spray with a small amount of water. Alcohol may seem like a strange choice, but it also works. Mix half a deciliter of vodka, 2 cups of water and a bit of dishwashing detergent into a spray bottle. Spray onto the weeds (ideally in sunny weather).
Other great and effective methods
Essential oils are wonderful not only in the home but also in the garden. Mix 1 cup of salt, 1 liter of vinegar, a little dishwashing detergent and a few drops of citrus oil. This is the best way to reliably and fairly quickly get rid of unpleasant weeds. Cornmeal is just as good. Cornmeal makes it harder for weed seeds to reproduce. It won’t kill existing weeds, but it’s a great preventive measure.
You’ll be surprised, but one of the best ways to keep weeds to a minimum is to properly care for your lawn. Thick and healthy grass naturally blocks the spread and growth of weeds. So if you have a healthy lawn, you’re sure not to have too many weeds in it. You can pull weeds from beds and paths by hand, although it isn’t pleasant. Or use tried-and-true boiling water. Just pour it on the weeds and watch them die. It’s safe, simple and the cheapest.
