Every year my grandmother preserves several jars of raspberry jam with the same ingredient. This is her recipe.

Do you have small children at home or are you lovers of sweet breakfasts and snacks? You can choose from many kinds of sweet jams that are made from different fruit. How about making a jam at home according to our recipe? You certainly will not regret it and you will never want to buy store-bought jam again.

You will need not only fruit, but also alcohol

For today’s jam recipe prepare:

  • 1 kg raspberries
  • 2 bananas
  • 800 g sugar
  • 10 g vanilla sugar
  • 30 ml brandy

Wash the raspberries, blend them in a mixer, add the sliced banana, sugar and blend again. Put on the stove and cook for about 5 minutes, but only after the raspberries begin to bubble. Stir constantly so that lumps do not form. Finally add the vanilla sugar and brandy. Put the finished jam into sterilized containers and cover with lids. And you’re done!

What can you use the jam for?

If you make homemade jam, you are guaranteed to know what you put into it and you do not have to fear artificial sweeteners and other surprises that are used in jams. In addition, you can make a decent supply for the whole winter, or give it as gifts to your friends. Jam is used most often in combination with a slice of bread and butter, but you will also use it on sweet pancakes. Children love flatbreads spread with sweet fruit and sprinkled with cocoa, cinnamon or sugar.

We most often associate jam with Linzer cookies or other delicacies. It suits baked gingerbread, just like, for example, Nutella. Exceptionally, homemade jam will taste good on homemade pancakes. You can make jam from whatever fruit you like, but there are also varieties that belong to the more exotic. An exception is, for example, gooseberry jam or other garden fruit. People have different ways of cooking and making jam. Sometimes it is enough to cook the jam and pour it into jars, someone even sterilizes the jars and then stores them in a cool place. Always carefully label jars with finished jam so you know in which year and from what you made them.
