Every gardener has his own way of growing fruit and vegetables. Tips for growing cucumbers and achieving a large harvest have been passed down for generations among large-scale growers, so it is worth trying these methods at home as well. It takes little and a rich harvest is guaranteed, because pests will have no chance. The prepared mixture is effective not only against pests, but also ensures a large yield due to fertilization!

Fresh cucumbers every day

The cucumber is among the healthiest summer vegetables because it contains large amounts of vitamins and minerals, especially vitamins A, C, K and the B group, silicon, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, zinc, copper or cobalt. In summer cucumbers are an excellent source of fluids, as they contain 95 % water and their consumption aids better digestion in the intestines. Cucumbers also contain flavonoids useful in the fight against free radicals, and sterols that reduce bad cholesterol. Moreover, you can have a bountiful cucumber harvest from your own garden.

Cucumbers love sun and support for climbing

This type of vegetable needs plenty of sunlight and watering to grow well; only then will cucumbers thrive. In addition, it is necessary to provide seedlings with support for climbing from netting or fencing. It is also advisable to protect them against pests and at the same time fertilize using one of the methods:

  1. Water the seedlings from the very emergence of the first leaves with a mixture of 1 liter of water, 20 g of soap or phosphate-free laundry detergent and 30 drops of iodine for 10 days.
  2. Soak a slice of bread in a bucket of water, strain it in the morning and add a small bottle of iodine and water the plants with this mixture. It is advisable to water the plants with this solution every two weeks for a rich harvest.
  3. Water cucumbers (or tomatoes) with a mixture of 2 liters of whey and 150 grams of sugar for a bountiful harvest.
  4. Let 700 grams of onion skins steep in 10 liters of water, then boil, let cool and steep for 12 hours, then remove the skins through a sieve and mix with water in a ratio of 1:4; water the plants with this mixture.
  5. Regularly water cucumber plants with a whey mixture of 5 liters of water and 1 liter of whey.
