Are your palms sweating? If it is not caused by heat or stress, then it is time to find out which 3 diseases may be directly related to this symptom.

Sweating is one of our body’s reactions that primarily leads to cooling. The reason can be heat, but also stress or other external influences. We evaporate up to half a liter of fluid a day in the form of sweat, which is a normal amount that we do not even notice. Excessive sweating, however, is something that can seriously bother us, and it is also a reason why we should find out what is behind it.

Excessive sweating

This problem occurs when the amount of hormones produced by the thyroid gland increases. It is more common in women than in men. Besides sweaty palms, it may be suspicious if you are losing weight even though your intake remains the same, or if you notice any of these symptoms:

  • Fatigue, irritability
  • Menstrual disorders
  • Rapid heartbeat
  • Muscle pain
  • Diarrhea
  • Mental problems

The cause of sweating can often be depression, stress, tension and anxiety. You may also notice an increased heart rate and restlessness. In such cases the palms and soles begin to sweat. The only way to deal with the problem is to calm the brain, switch off thoughts, divert attention from problems and focus on something positive. If you cannot resolve the issues, it is good to turn to a professional who will help you with methods and techniques for achieving relaxation and managing stress surges.

Excess adrenal function

Excessive adrenal activity can also cause a hormonal problem that leads to sweating. Some hormones, if present in excess, cause sweating that can be particularly noticeable on the palms or soles of the feet. During certain hormonal periods, for example during menstruation, increased sweating is, however, normal, and in such cases you should not be afraid.

How to deal with excessive sweating?

First of all it is necessary to address its cause. Then it is possible to use various methods to reduce sweating, or at least to eliminate the unpleasant manifestations that accompany it. Odor can be prevented by using an appropriate deodorant, but also by more frequent washing and wearing cotton clothing that is breathable. In general, we should not actively prevent sweating by using antiperspirants, since by sweating we rid the body of toxins and waste substances that would otherwise remain unnecessarily in the body. Therefore avoid using antiperspirants, and rather just mask the odor with a suitable deodorant or fragrance.
