Time plays the most important role in cancer treatment. Doctors agree that lung cancer diagnosed early is treatable. Therefore it is important to watch your body, which sends us signals that something is wrong. Cancer already manifests itself in the early phase, even before a confirming medical diagnosis is made.
A cough and pain are warning signs
A reason for concern can be a severe cough or frequent infections, because cancer cells significantly weaken the immune system. You should also pay attention to unwanted weight loss. Cancer can also present as muscle pain, especially in the hip and arm areas, or directly as bone pain. Unfortunately, this can mean that the cancer has already begun to spread.
Lung cancer is accompanied by a high level of calcium. This results in frequent urination, problematic bowel movements, constant thirst, nausea, dizziness and abdominal pain. In addition, people with lung cancer have problems with frequent shortness of breath even during less strenuous activities or with unpleasant snoring.
When the face swells
It is also worth mentioning that the presence of cancer in the body slows blood circulation, thereby causing a worse mood. Alongside that, it shows a changed appearance – swelling of the face and neck. Hoarseness appears, there may be difficulties with swallowing and chest pains, which are usually dull at first, later, when the cancer begins to grow into the chest wall, become sharp and stabbing. Examinations are most often performed using X-rays, which reveal changes in lung tissue and suspicious formations.
The most important step in preventing lung cancer is to stop smoking if you are a smoker. Passive smoking, which smokers in our vicinity expose us to, is of course also dangerous. The risk increases after the age of fifty. Genetic factors can also have an influence; sometimes, however, the reason for the onset of cancer is completely unknown. A link with polluted living environments in large cities has not yet been proven.
