Cabana Cake is a very popular dessert that refers to a cake with banana and chocolate. In summer it will carry you in your thoughts to a sunny beach, in winter it will remind you of holiday moments far away from all worries. Although it may not seem so, the preparation is very simple and children can assist with it. You will need the following ingredients:

  • 150 g dark chocolate (at least 60% cocoa content)
  • 200 g sweetened curd cheese
  • 200 g cream cheese
  • 6 ripe bananas
  • Vanilla extract
  • Sugar

Preparation method

First break the dark chocolate into pieces and melt it in a water bath. When it is completely liquid, let it cool for about five to ten minutes, but it must not harden into a solid mass again. Meanwhile, in a blender, mix the cream cheese, sugar to taste and six drops of vanilla extract. Mix until you obtain a homogeneous mixture.

In a deeper bowl, blend the curd cheese with the creamy mixture prepared in the previous step. Gradually add the melted chocolate. Stir until smooth. Then peel the prepared bananas and cut off their tips. On a serving plate or tray, spread a little of the chocolate cream so that it creates an even layer.

Layer the cream and bananas

On the cream spread this way, place three bananas cut in half. Then apply another layer of cream, followed by two halved bananas, spread with cream again and on top one more halved banana. The dessert should form a pyramid shape. With the remaining cream, evenly coat the sides of the dessert and smooth the cream. You can pour melted chocolate on top and sprinkle the pastry with chopped nuts.

Put the dessert in the refrigerator for several hours so that it can set and all the flavors meld perfectly. After a few hours you can cut it into pieces so that the cross-section of all the bananas is visible. It creates an impressive design that will surely attract every diner’s attention. If you want to enhance the dessert a bit, mix a little rum essence into the cream.
