Ayurvedic treatment and therapy should be incorporated into your lifestyle. Just like a daily routine that includes brushing your teeth, showering, exercising, or eating, Ayurveda also says you should perform certain activities every day.

This is called “Din charya” or the daily routine. However, some activities and techniques of “Din Charya” have been neglected over the decades. For example, the technique “Pada Abhyangam”, a special foot massage.

Although there are many different massage techniques, try to focus on this simple technique and include it in your daily life.

You can use homemade ghee (clarified butter), olive oil, sesame oil, mustard oil, coconut oil, or any other relaxing oil.

However, cow ghee is considered the best alternative. But as we write, you won’t go wrong with anything else.

Instructions:

  • Rub a few drops of the chosen oil or butter into the soles of your feet. According to historical records, a small metal bowl is best for massaging the soles.
  • Gently massage the feet in both directions from the heel to the toes and back for 2-10 minutes. Massage both feet. After finishing, rinse your feet with warm water.
  • You can perform the foot massage at any time, but you will achieve the best results before bedtime.
