At that time 36-year-old Oksana Kobeleckaja from Ukrainian Odesa, together with her husband Sergej, were no longer first-time parents; they had a three-year-old daughter. The whole family was joyfully expecting a new addition.
Symptoms during pregnancy
But plans don’t always work out the way we expect. The pregnancy belly was growing faster and fairly soon it was larger than during the previous pregnancy, and the expectant mother began to suspect.
That she might not be expecting a single child; although twins had never occurred in the family, she tended to think that this probably wasn’t the case and that it was just a larger baby.
She eventually went to the doctor for an ultrasound. There it was confirmed that she really was not expecting twins. The truth was much more shocking for the doctors and the parents.
What the doctors discovered?
Oksana was expecting quintuplets. The shocked mother realized that all her plans were changing. The doctor ran to share the joyful news with the entire hospital staff, who of course had never encountered anything like it before.
Fortunately everything turned out very well in the end. By Caesarean section three little boys and two little girls were born.
