In 2014 we lost Robin Williams and this wound will never heal.

What we will never lose, however, is his talent, his wit and sense of humor, and the large number of unforgettable characters he portrayed in his films.

We should never stop admiring Robin Williams for his brilliance. We want to recall some valuable life lessons from our actor and his film characters.

1. Choose the right people

I thought the worst thing in life was to end up alone.

It’s not. The worst thing in life is to end up with people who make you feel completely alone.

2. Learn to see what hides behind a smile

I think the saddest people always try to do everything to make the people around them happy.

Because they know what it’s like to feel absolutely worthless and don’t want anyone else to feel that way.

3. Behind every mishap there’s a valuable life lesson

“Even if you go through a bad period, it will always lead you to the things you haven’t paid attention to.”

– Robin Williams as Sean Maguire in the film Good Will Hunting,

4. First, listen to your critic

It’s hard when you read an article that says bad things about you.

It’s like someone stabbed a knife into your heart.

I’ve always been the toughest critic of my work.

5. Stop worrying

“Please, don’t be so afraid. Because in the end none of us will be on this Earth forever.

Life is fleeting. If anything ever troubles you, turn your eyes to the summer sky when the stars shine during a velvety night.”

– Robin Williams as Jack Powell in the film Jack

6. Life begins when you reach 50

“I had a midlife crisis when I was about 30, so I was done with it.

But when I turned 50, it was something incredible. You feel at the peak of your life, and literally so.

Things are going great and you’ve reached a point where you no longer have to fight.”

7. Sometimes the right decision is worth a hundred mistakes

“What’s right? What remains if you do everything wrong.”

8. Don’t regret your decisions

“Sometimes I think about the things I’ve done, about films that didn’t turn out very well.

Why did I do it? In the end, however, I cannot regret them, because I met amazing people.

I always found something in it that was worth it.”

9. No one is perfect, but we can be perfect for each other

“You are not perfect and the girl you met is not perfect either.

The question, however, is whether you are or are not perfect for each other.”

– Robin Williams as Sean Maguire in the film Good Will Hunting

10. Don’t be afraid to take a break and recharge

“Do you think you should just keep working, otherwise people will forget?

But that’s dangerous.

Then you realize, no, actually, if I take a break, people might be more interested in me.”

11. Train your imagination

“Imagination works on its own.

I grew up as an only child, so imagination was a necessity, like a survival mechanism.”

12. Appreciate what really matters

“I don’t know how much value I have in this universe, but I know I made a few people happier.

If I know that, I’m happy nonetheless.”

13. Never stop learning

“You still have a lot to learn. Even mistakes can be amazing.”

14. Talk more and write fewer text messages

“Tweets? They kill conversation.

People who take photos with their phone or record you, sometimes secretly, are creepy.

They come and just start talking to you and on their phone you can see a red light.”

15. Appreciate what makes you who you are

“You get only a small pinch of madness.

You mustn’t lose it.”
