There are several causes of tooth pain.
It is usually gum disease, tooth decay, excessive tartar, injury, poorly fitted crowns or fillings, a cracked tooth, temporomandibular joint disorders or an irritated tooth nerve.
Toothaches are sometimes so severe and frustrating that they prevent you from carrying out normal daily activities, worsen your mood, or make eating difficult.
Of course, the best solution is to visit a dentist. But what to do if the pain appears suddenly and it happens to be evening or the weekend and there is no dental emergency nearby?
In such a case you can use the recipe we will reveal to you today. It is a home remedy, but a very effective way to quickly relieve tooth pain in just a few seconds.
Ingredients:
To make our pain-relieving remedy you will need the following items:
- coconut oil
- cloves (Czech: hřebíčky)
Method
Pour 1 teaspoon of coconut oil into a bowl and add 1/2 teaspoon of ground clove powder.
If you don’t have powder but only whole cloves, chop them into tiny pieces on a cutting board with a knife.
Mix the contents well until a smooth paste forms.
Usage
Apply/drop the paste onto the painful spot on the gum, onto the tooth and around it.
Repeat the procedure 3 times a day.
How it works
Coconut oil is known for its antibacterial effects. It helps neutralize the bacteria that cause inflammation.
Clove contains the compound eugenol, which has strong analgesic (pain-relieving) effects.
In case of severe pain, you can enhance the effect by chewing a clove in your mouth for a few minutes. This speeds up the release of eugenol directly to the site of pain.
