Alcohol is often added to cosmetic products and is used as a disinfectant or adhesive remover.

You can also kill bedbugs with alcohol. All you have to do is spray the mattress and pillows with a sprayer. After a few repetitions your bed will be rid of these pests.

However, alcohol can be used for many more purposes than it might seem at first:

Skin cleansing

Many creams and ointments for acne contain benzoyl peroxide. But alcohol has strong anti-inflammatory effects that soothe affected skin, disinfect pimples and prevent the formation of acne.

All you have to do is apply alcohol to the affected area of skin using a cotton swab.

Treats cold sores

Approximately 85 percent of the world’s population permanently carries the herpes virus in their bodies, but only some of them suffer from the development of actual cold sores.

In this case it pays to use 70 percent isopropyl alcohol on the affected area and the cold sores will soon disappear.

Replaces deodorant

Using alcohol under the arms prevents the formation of odor. Keep in mind, however, that long-term use of alcohol can lead to skin irritation. Therefore apply it in this way only when necessary.

Prevents ingrown hairs

Use a little pure alcohol after shaving on the underarms and in the groin to prevent ingrown hairs and avoid skin irritation.

Cold compress

Mix water and alcohol in a ratio of 2: 1, and store the mixture in a sealable plastic bag in the refrigerator for one hour. Then use it as an ice pack, or to cool your food or drink during hot weather.

Removes nail polish

Nail polish removers for nails are rich in chemicals that damage nails. So alcohol will serve as a full substitute for chemical acetone.

Cleans the ears

Cotton swabs are commonly used to clean the ears, but in reality they push earwax deeper into the ear canal. Therefore you can mix an alcohol solution with white vinegar and soak a cotton swab in the solution. Then simply apply it into the ears and the earwax will come out by itself.

Kills lice

Add a few drops of lavender oil to alcohol in a spray bottle. Then apply this solution to the scalp and comb the dead lice out.

Homemade hand sanitizer

Alcohol makes an excellent hand disinfectant. Mix ½ teaspoon of alcohol, a few drops of tea tree oil and 100 g of aloe vera gel.

Conclusion

As you can see, alcohol has not only many practical but also health-related uses. Try to think occasionally and try to replace commercial and often unhealthy products with your own — simply homemade.
