Although you take care when baking food in the oven, it still gets dirty and greasy over time. During baking, steam from the food spreads and dirt accumulates on the walls, the door and on the inner glass. Here are a few simple tips that will help you clean your oven!

Water and dish soap

Nothing is better than water mixed with a neutral dish soap. It removes dirt and grease. Do a basic cleaning using a sponge and dish soap, then remove the foam with a damp cloth and finish with a dry cloth. If your oven is too dirty, then clean it further using one of the following methods.

Baking soda paste

The first tip is a paste made from the popular baking soda, which is good to have on hand. It is a great helper around the house. Prepare the paste using baking soda and lukewarm water.

Just mix the water with the baking soda to a thicker consistency so it doesn’t run. Then use a cleaning brush to apply the paste to the entire inner side of the glass door and spread it gently. Be careful that the paste does not get into hard-to-reach places, such as the glass inserts, for example.

Let the paste sit for at least 20 minutes, then remove it with a damp cloth or a wet sponge. Finally, wipe it dry.

Baking soda and vinegar paste

If you couldn’t remove all the dirt from the oven glass using only baking soda, improve the paste by warming the water a little and adding some vinegar. In that case also add more baking soda to maintain the paste consistency and prevent it from running.

Apply the paste while the water is still warm and spread it well. Let it sit for at least 20 minutes, then clean with the soft side of a sponge and dry.

How to clean the inside of the glass door?

Cleaning the inner parts of the oven is quite simple. But how do you get to this part? There is a simple way, but it also depends on the model of your oven.

Some doors need to be unscrewed, while newer ones already have a button or safety locks that release the glass from the inside and provide access to the interior.

How to clean the oven glass in doors that cannot be opened?

If the door on your oven cannot be released, there is an alternative way to clean it. However, you will need a tool that allows you to reach the dirt accumulated between the glass.

Step 1

Take an old wire hanger, a very absorbent cloth and a rubber band. Remove the hanger and straighten the wire until it looks like an extended hook.

Step 2

Attach the cloth to the hook with the rubber band and make sure it holds well.

Step 3

Open the oven door and leave it in a vertical position. There should be a gap on the bottom side through which you will apply the cleaning solution.

Step 4

Preparation of the degreasing solution: in a bowl mix warm water, a tablespoon of baking soda, half a cup of vinegar and a tablespoon of salt. Shake well.

Step 5

Dip the cloth into this solution, then insert it through the gap between the glass and wipe across the entire surface of the glass to remove all the dirt. If necessary, let the solution sit for a few minutes.

Step 6

Finally, remove the dirty cloth from the oven, replace it with a clean one and reattach. Repeat the same process and dry the glass. Done.
