China produces approximately 1.4 million tons of rice every year, which it distributes around the world. This makes China the top supplier of rice worldwide. Shocking, however, is the finding that Korea exports “rice” to the world under the name Chinese rice, which is a real danger to human health. It sounds incredible, but this rice contains plastic!

How to determine the quality of rice

Korea claims that their Chinese rice is made from potato starch and plastic, which during cooking creates a kind of illusion of rice aroma.
Fortunately, we know an easy trick that allows you to detect whether the rice you just bought contains plastic or not.

Water test

Put a spoonful of purchased rice into a glass. Organic, i.e. natural rice will always settle directly at the bottom. Synthetic rice will float on the surface of the water.

Crushing the grains

If you crush a few grains of rice and you get a white powder, then the rice is truly organic. However, if there are some yellow spots inside the rice, then the product is made from synthetic materials.

Fire test

Try to light a few grains of rice with an ordinary match. If they actually start to burn, do not eat this rice under any circumstances!

Longer-term test

Place a handful of washed rice into a plastic container and leave it in a sunny spot in the apartment, not in the refrigerator. If you see mold on it after a few days, that is a good sign. That means the rice is natural. If no mold appears even after several days, it means the rice contains artificial substances.

Fake rice

Quite recently, a report appeared on the internet that shocked the whole world! You may have come across it yourself. A very dangerous case occurred in Nigeria just before Christmas, when customs officers seized rice that they really didn’t like. What they found truly takes your breath away.
As many as 102 fake sacks of rice were recently seized by Nigerian customs. The rice didn’t look right to them from the start of the inspection, so they decided to test it.
Immediately after cooking it, they were surprised by its very sticky consistency, so they sent it for analysis right away. The laboratory found that what these people were passing off as rice was not rice at all.
It wasn’t even food, but ordinary plastic pellets.
Customs officers seized nearly 3 tonnes of this plastic rice labeled as „the best tomato rice”.
This “rice” was imported from China.
Rising inflation in Nigeria is causing food prices to increase very sharply. This also applies to rice, which today in Nigeria costs twice as much as it did 12 months ago. Such a market situation also attracts „entrepreneurs” who really won’t shy away from anything.
The only luck is that the customs officers managed to uncover this fraud. We don’t even want to imagine what would have happened if someone had actually eaten such “rice”.
