Red beet is a vegetable that has many health benefits. It is excellent as a side dish, or you can prepare a delicious drink from it.

Many people have used it for thousands of years to treat various health problems.

After garlic it has the highest iron content. Its iodine content is the second highest after cabbage. Red beet is also full of many other nutrients and antioxidants. It can speed up your metabolism. Among its most useful substances are polyphenols, which protect cell membranes and DNA. Red beet also contains beta-alanine, which prevents arterial hardening, supports liver function, and helps lower blood pressure.

Red beet provides a vivid color. Polyphenols and betalain together prevent damage by free radicals and protect against oxidative stress. Red beet is also full of B vitamins and niacin, which strengthen blood vessel walls.

To prepare the salad you will need only these ingredients:

  • 2 to 3 pcs of red beet
  • 2 onions
  • extra virgin olive oil
  • vinegar
  • salt to taste

Proceed as follows:

1. Peel the red beets and cook them in salted water until soft. After cooling, cut them into cubes and put them in a salad bowl.

2. Peel and slice the onions. Add them to the beet.

3. Then add olive oil and vinegar to the salad. You can season it with a pinch of salt.

4. Finally, you can pour a dressing of your choice over the salad and let it rest for about 1 hour.
