It is known that mustard seeds are an excellent stimulant for hair growth. In addition to absorbing excess oil, they improve blood circulation and regulate the activity of the sebaceous glands in the scalp.
Use with caution
However, all ingredients should be used with caution to avoid drying out the scalp and flaking and breaking of the hair. If you are prone to allergies or have a sensitive scalp, you must be very careful with mustard. In this case it is better to add mustard seeds to olive or almond oil, egg yolks or plain yogurt.
Mustard mask recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons mustard seed powder
- 2 tablespoons warm water
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sugar
Method:
In a bowl mix all the ingredients until you get a smooth paste. If you don’t like the smell of yolks, i.e. eggs, you can omit it. If you omit the eggs, replace them with honey and leave out the sugar.
Apply the mask by dividing the hair into individual strands and using a hair-dye brush to spread the paste into the roots. At the same time try to avoid applying it to the ends and the full length of the hair. Finally wrap the hair in cling film or a bag and then in a towel.
Leave the mask on the hair for at least 15 minutes and at most one hour. However, the first time leave the mask on for only 15 minutes to avoid possible complications. Over time the hair and scalp will get used to it and you can leave the mask on longer. If you feel any burning, rinse the mask off immediately.
Weekly treatment
You should use the mask once a week and if you have very oily hair you can apply it twice a week. This will reduce sebum production. The overall treatment should last a maximum of one month. You will see the first effects after a month. Hair will become less greasy and will begin to grow faster. Give your scalp a good massage as well, which only requires the pads of your fingers.
