Women spend large amounts of money on various medicinal and cosmetic products to perfect their appearance, improve their health, or enhance their nails, hair, or skin.

Many of the products purchased, however, are full of chemicals that can harm our health. For this reason, more and more women are turning to nature and the simple recipes of our grandmothers.

One of these versatile substances is baking soda. Most of you have surely already heard of it.

Today we’ll reveal 15 tricks every woman should know (and of course they won’t hurt men either).

1 Brushing teeth

Make a paste of water and baking soda in a 1:1 ratio, mixing it well.

Then use this paste to clean your teeth as you normally do (just a bit more gently so the baking soda granules don’t damage your tooth enamel).

Baking soda not only cleans teeth but also eliminates harmful bacteria. In addition, it raises the pH in your mouth from acidic to slightly alkaline, which will reduce tooth decay.

2 Softening the skin

Apply a similar paste as in the previous section to your elbows and the soles of your feet, or wherever you have rough skin. Then leave it on for a while.

Do this regularly and the rough skin will gradually soften nicely.

3 Reducing sunburn

Mix 0.5 dl of water with 2 to 3 teaspoons of baking soda and apply the resulting liquid to the areas where the sun has burned your skin.

This will ease the unpleasant burning and also speed up skin regeneration.

4 Removing stretch marks

Again, make a mixture of water and baking soda as in the previous section. Then apply this mixture regularly to stretch marks.

After some time, the visibility of these marks will significantly decrease or even disappear completely.

5 Relieving toothache

Has a painful tooth caught you and you’re not scheduled to see the dentist for several days?

While waiting for the examination, you can ease the toothache by applying the same paste you made in the first point for brushing teeth.

6 Eases stomach reflux and heartburn

If you suffer from reflux, simply dissolve 1 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and drink it.

Baking soda neutralizes stomach acid and will reduce heartburn. However, do not do this less than an hour after eating. Otherwise, food in your stomach may not digest well, which can cause other health problems.

7 Natural deodorant

Are you worried about aluminum antiperspirants, which are suspected of causing breast cancer and lymph node issues?

Then make a paste of water and baking soda (1:1 ratio) and apply it to your armpits instead of regular antiperspirant.

8 Improving hair volume and shine

Add a little baking soda to your shampoo and wash your hair as you usually do.

Already after the first wash you’ll notice that your hair is fuller and shinier.

Note: The next 4 tips do not concern personal care directly, but rather cleaning tasks in the household. However, we wanted to mention them too because they will significantly make your life easier.

9 Removing stains on clothing

When you get stubborn stains on clothing that didn’t come out even after washing in the machine, try applying a paste of water and baking soda to them.

Leave the paste on for about an hour and then wash the garment or scrub the stain with a brush.

10 Refreshing sponges

Did you know that kitchen sponges are the most contaminated items in the household when it comes to the amount of bacteria?

From time to time, dissolve a few tablespoons of baking soda in a bowl of hot water and soak the sponges for a few tens of minutes. This should not only clean them but also get rid of bacteria.

11 Cleaning the microwave

Microwave ovens are the healthiest way to prepare food. However, if you already have one at home, you surely know that cleaning them can sometimes be quite a chore.

Cleaning them is made much easier if you wipe them with a damp sponge onto which you’ve first sprinkled a little baking soda.

12 Cleaning floors and furniture

Similar to the previous case, apply a little baking soda to a sponge and easily clean furniture, floor stains, or other dirt.

After washing, wipe the area with a dry cloth.

13 Relieving insect bites

If a mosquito, horsefly, bedbug, or any other insect bites you, apply a little solution of water and baking soda to the bite.

It will quickly reduce the stinging and itching.

14 Cleaning fruits and vegetables from pesticides

Today it is a big problem that almost all fruit and vegetables sold in stores are heavily treated. Ordinary water is usually not enough to wash off chemical residues.

This problem can be helped by soaking fruit and vegetables for a few minutes in lukewarm water in the sink in which you’ve dissolved a few tablespoons of baking soda.

15 Softening legumes

Some legumes have to be cooked for a long time to soften and sometimes remain hard.

You can solve this little nuisance simply by adding 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to the water in which they’re being cooked.
