There is probably no one who doesn’t like chocolate. And it is this sweet ingredient that we will use in one of the recipes for making an edible ornament. We bring you two delicious ways to prepare this dessert.
Chocolate balls with a surprise
For the preparation we will need
- Silicone mold in the shape of a ball
- 60 g dark chocolate
- 1 Kinder Surprise chocolate
- 250 g powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 L lemon juice
- Ribbon and a piping bag
Instructions for preparation
We melt the dark chocolate in warm water and then spread part of it with a brush over the inner surface of the two molds and put them in the refrigerator for 15 minutes. Then we pour a second layer of chocolate and put them back in the cold for the same time. After the third layer we put the molds in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours. The chocolate should harden completely so that we can detach it from the mold. Then we tie the ribbon in a knot and insert it into the toy egg from the Kinder Surprise and close it so that the knot protrudes from the egg.
Carefully remove the chocolate from the molds and so that we can join the halves into one whole, heat a pan with a little water on the fire and once the water boils remove the pan from the heat. Place the pan upside down on the board and carefully place the half ball, upper hemisphere down, onto the heated pan for a few seconds.
Then insert the prepared egg with the ribbon into this hemisphere so that the knot also protrudes in this case, because it will serve to hang the ball, for example on a tree or a branch. Heat the other half of the ball as well and carefully attach it to the first half. Let the chocolate ball harden well for several hours at room temperature.
For decorating the ball we will need an egg, lemon juice and powdered sugar. Separate the egg white, whip it and gradually add the sugar, the yolk and the lemon juice and mix everything thoroughly. Fill a piping bag with the resulting filling and you can decorate one half of the ball, which you leave to dry in a bowl for 6 hours at room temperature. Only after it dries can we finish decorating the other half of the ball. After drying you can hang the ball on the Christmas tree — the ball is ready!
Snowflakes
For the preparation we will need
- 1 egg
- 250 g powdered sugar
- 1 L lemon juice
- fondant
- thread or ribbon
- snowflake patterns/templates
- piping bag
Instructions for preparation
Separate the egg white from the yolk and then whisk the white. Add the powdered sugar and lemon juice and mix everything well. Put the resulting mixture into a piping bag and you can prepare the decorating material.
Choose a suitable template, cover it with fondant and you can start decorating with the prepared piping bag. Put the finished snowflakes into the refrigerator until they harden. Finally add a ribbon or thread to the flakes and you can decorate the tree with them.
With these special edible decorations you’ll surprise not only guests but especially children. They will be able to snack directly from the tree. And that’s worth the effort, don’t you think?
