Almost everyone grows seedlings on the windowsill and even during the winter months begins sowing seeds. I would like to show you one of the excellent ways to obtain strong and healthy tomato seedlings that will provide a bountiful harvest.
Planting tomatoes in autumn
I plant tomatoes before the frost and in spring I have strong seedlings. You can plant whole tomatoes or plant only slices with pulp or the seeds from the plants.
Choose according to which tomato varieties you have, what your climate and winter are like (for example, you can plant in a greenhouse or in a pot). The ideal is to use both options and then determine which method is best.
Advantages of autumn planting:
– the seedlings are strong, healthy, resistant to diseases;
– you don’t need to sow seeds, because from the planted tomatoes a bush will grow without special care and then you can either transplant the plants to their places or leave them where they are;
– such tomatoes are not affected by diseases, they have high immunity;
– thanks to natural cultivation you don’t necessarily have to transplant or tie the seedlings — they don’t stretch and you don’t have to laboriously stimulate root system growth; such seedlings have a strong root system.
Procedure:
With such planting it’s enough to prepare the bed as you usually do, sow to a depth of 2 cm and cover with soil. Sow the seeds in rows without soaking.
Cover the planting sites well, including with spruce branches.
When planting whole tomatoes, plant them at a sufficient distance from each other, cover with soil (optionally with non-woven fabric) and cover with spruce branches.
