Are you tired of dealing with a stuffy nose during a runny nose or a cold? In this article we will reveal a simple way to release pressure in blocked paranasal sinuses.
The best part is that it works not only for common respiratory infections, but also, for example, for allergies.
Increased pressure in blocked sinuses is often caused by an accumulation of lymphatic fluid around the head and neck.
It can be relieved by gently massaging specific areas that will improve lymph flow and ensure the supply of immune cells to the site of infection.
How it works
Our lymphatic system is made up of a network of lymphatic vessels, nodes and organs whose main task is to drain accumulated fluids from tissues and rid the body of toxins.
Lymphatic vessels carry lymph – a fluid that also contains white blood cells, which distribute throughout the body so they can fight infection at sites of inflammation.
When the lymphatic system is disrupted, your health suffers as well.
There are hundreds of lymph nodes in the body, with most of them located in the front, which makes them relatively easy to access for lymphatic massage.
It is recommended to set aside 15 minutes during which you perform such a massage on yourself.
By accelerating the flow of lymph from the tissues, toxic and waste substances are removed more quickly and the body’s ability to suppress infection is significantly increased.
When not to perform the massage
The described massage is not recommended in only a few cases, namely if you have:
fever
circulatory problems
heart disease
active bleeding
cancer
or if you are pregnant
Let’s now take a look at how to perform this massage.
Procedure for performing the massage
1. Sit comfortably and take a few deep breaths in and out.
2. Using the ring fingers on both hands, find the ends of the collarbones under the neck. Then place your ring fingers, middle fingers and index fingers into the small hollows just above them.
3. Gently massage those areas in circular motions for several minutes. You can cross your hands if that makes it easier for you.
4. Then move on to massaging the neck from the ears downward to support lymph flow. Perform 50 to 100 such movements with both hands on both sides of the neck.
5. Now do the same on the back of the neck, diagonally downward and forward.
6. In the next part, make a gap on your hands between the middle finger and ring finger in the shape of the letter “V” (like the Vulcan salute in Star Trek). Then massage the areas around the ears from top to bottom. Again perform 50 to 100 such movements.
7. Then repeat step 5.
8. Then repeat step 4.
9. Finally, repeat step 3.
Conclusion
Next time your paranasal sinuses bother you again, be sure to try this gentle lymphatic massage. You will be pleasantly surprised by its effectiveness!
