Let’s be honest and admit that we all try to save money where we can. Dishwasher tablets are one of the most annoying and also expensive items on our shopping lists.
Homemade dishwasher detergent powder
However, you can make a homemade dishwasher product yourself from a few things you likely already have at home.
You’ll need
- 300 g washing soda
- 300 g baking soda
- 150 g citric acid
- 150 g table salt
- a little dishwashing liquid
Instructions
Mix all the ingredients (except the dishwashing liquid) and put them into a jar that can be tightly sealed.
The most important thing is that no water gets into the prepared powder.
In the place where you usually put a dishwasher tablet, add 1–2 teaspoons of the powder and a little dishwashing liquid.
Don’t overdo the dishwashing liquid, it could create too much foam.
And that’s it.
Tip
If you want to cheaply replace the rinse aid as well, simply place a small bowl with a little plain vinegar without additives in the top of the dishwasher. The dishes will come out nicely shiny. Preferably do not pour the vinegar directly into the dispenser; undiluted it could contribute to the dishwasher’s wear.
