Every housewife has surely noticed that over time terry towels lose their softness and fluffiness. They acquire stiffness and become inflexible. Softeners are not always suitable.

Try a homemade and very simple method that will easily make your towels fluffy and soft.

How to have soft and fluffy terry towels

1. Washing terry towels is a delicate matter

When washing terry towels it is important to wash them separately from other items. It is important that the washer is not overloaded! Fluffy and soft towels hate cramped conditions, so it is best to wash no more than 3 pieces at a time. The best option, considering the drum size, should be filled at most halfway.

2. Terry towels: less washing, only drying

Towels are even less compressed when you dry them naturally. Heaters and tumble dryers are enemies of softness and fluffiness. Sunlight is also not liked very much! The best way to dry wet terry towels is to hang them in a shaded place. Fresh air is also good. As a last resort, classic drying on a line or a rail in the bathroom or hallway works. It is also important that terry towels dry completely. Otherwise they can smell unpleasantly, and when packed in a cupboard they become a source of mold.

Homemade recipe to restore terry towels to their original look

You will need:

  • 150 ml vinegar
  • 75 g baking soda

Procedure:

  • Now you must load the terry towels into the washing machine. No more than half the drum.
  • Instead of detergent you must pour in the vinegar and start a wash cycle without spinning and rinsing.
  • After the wash finishes you will need to restart the cycle and instead of powder add the baking soda.
