Experienced gardeners have their tried-and-true methods for achieving a rich harvest. One of the secrets circulating among gardeners on YouTube is a homemade fertilizer that can speed up tomato growth up to ten times. This recipe is simple, economical and above all effective. The basic ingredients are nettle and stale bread. This fertilizer is suitable not only for tomatoes, but also for cucumbers, peppers, flowers and herbs.
How to Prepare a Nutritious Fertilizer?
Ingredients:
- Nettle (leaves and stems, ideally not flowering)
- Settled rainwater
- Stale bread (optional, but recommended to speed up fermentation)
Procedure:
- Pick the Nettle: Use the nettle leaves and stems; it’s best to work with nettles that are not flowering.
- Pour in Settled Rainwater: Add the nettles to a container and pour in settled rainwater. Cover the container and stir the mixture daily.
- Fermentation Process: The fertilizer smells strongly, so it’s better to keep it covered. If you want to speed up the fermentation process, place the container in the sun, but this is not required. Remember to stir the mixture daily.
- Fermentation Time: In about 2–3 weeks the fertilizer will be ready. To speed up fermentation, you can add a few pieces of stale bread, crusts included, to the mixture.
How to Use the Homemade Fertilizer?
Using this fertilizer is very simple. Follow the procedure below:
- Diluting the Fertilizer: Add 1 dl of fertilizer to 5 liters of water in a watering can. The water should be settled.
- Frequency of Use: If you add 500 ml of fertilizer to 5 liters of water, it is enough to use this fertilizer once a month.
Additional Tips for Better Results:
- Rainwater: If you don’t have access to rainwater, you can use tap water, but let it stand before use.
- Nettle Quality: For best results use fresh nettles that are not flowering.
- Storing the Fertilizer: If you have excess fertilizer, you can store it in a cool, dark place. Stir the mixture thoroughly before each use.
This recipe is a great example of how nature and traditional methods can bring amazing results without using chemicals. Try this simple and effective method and watch your tomatoes and other plants grow faster and healthier!
