Adoption is a decision that changes lives – both the child’s and his new family’s. The story of Ingeborg McIntosh and her adopted son Jordan is one of those touching stories that show how strong the bond between an adoptive mother and her child can be.
The road to adoption
Ingeborg McIntosh had always wanted to be a mother. When she decided to adopt, she had to overcome many obstacles. Jordan was a newborn when Ingeborg first saw him. His biological mother, however, insisted that he be adopted by a Black family. Inge did not give up and for over four years tried to convince the biological mother that she could provide Jordan with a loving home. Fate finally intervened and no Black family showed interest in the boy. In the end Ingeborg was able to adopt him and bring him home.
„The important thing is that he eventually became part of the family, regardless of how it happened,“ said Ingeborg as she recalled the adoption process.
Mother and son’s love
Inge and Jordan formed an incredibly strong bond. Jordan grew up surrounded by love and support and became a strong and determined young man. Their lives seemed to be filled with happiness, but after twenty years a dramatic turn occurred. Inge was diagnosed with a serious kidney disease and doctors announced that she needed a transplant.
Jordan’s shocking step
When Jordan learned about his mother’s condition, he decided to act. Without telling her anything, he underwent tests to find out whether he could be a suitable kidney donor. The result was unbelievable – Jordan was a perfect donor! Inge initially refused the boy’s offer because she didn’t want him to risk his health, but Jordan insisted he would do it. He felt it was his duty.
„I think it’s my duty,“ said Jordan. „I want to repay her for everything she has done for me since childhood. The least I can do is give her a kidney and show her how much I love her.“
Conclusion
Jordan’s story is proof of how strong the bond between adopted children and their parents can be. Inge gave Jordan a home and unconditional love, and he saved her life years later. This story is a reminder that a true family is formed by the heart, not by blood.
