This recipe was recommended to me years ago by my good colleague Milka. It was at a time when my children were troubled by coughs and getting cough syrup from the pharmacy into them was a superhuman feat.

Milka recommended a remedy she made for her children, but she also took it herself. It is very tasty and acts literally like a balm on irritated throats and bronchi. The children would eat it from morning to night and it really helps. Don’t hesitate to try it, it is completely natural and quite simple to prepare!

What does the remedy help with?

  • Treats cough – relieves coughing fits
  • Treats throat inflammation and irritated throat
  • Treats persistent cough
  • Treats bronchitis

Besides its high effectiveness, it is also very tasty and has a beneficial effect on the stomach. Its preparation is quick and fairly simple. Who is this recipe intended for?

This banana recipe is especially recommended for illnesses in children, who often refuse common medicines or other home cough remedies. Those are almost always based on ingredients that are not very tasty, such as onion, garlic or ginger.

However, you can use the recipe for both children and adults. So if someone in the family, whether you or your child, suffers from a throat or lower respiratory tract illness, you definitely must try this recipe.

We need:

  • 2 medium ripe bananas (bananas that are starting to get black spots are best)
  • 400 ml of boiling water
  • 2 tablespoons
  • of honey

Procedure:

  • Peel the bananas and mash them with a fork or spoon . It is better to use wooden or plastic cutlery, because then the bananas will brown more slowly in the air.
  • Put the banana purée into a glass or porcelain bowl and pour boiling water over it .
  • Cover the bowl with a blanket and let it stand for 30 minutes. If you want, after steeping you can strain the mixture (but you don’t have to). Add the honey and mix well.

You should know:

By pouring boiling water over the bananas, part of the vitamins and enzymes in the bananas are destroyed. However, this recipe is not aimed at vitamin intake, but at obtaining substances that have anti-inflammatory effects and stop coughing. And these substances are obtained from the bananas precisely by steeping in boiling water.

To supply the body with vitamins and strengthen immunity you can comfortably eat fresh bananas and other healthy fruits such as tangerines, oranges, lemons or apples.

Usage:

Take the preparation 4 times a day, 100 ml each time. If you did not strain the banana after steeping, stir it well with a spoon before using the drink.

Keep the mixture in the refrigerator. Before each use always pour off 100 ml of the drink and let it warm to room temperature (never use it chilled straight from the refrigerator on a sore throat). Prepare a new batch of this homemade remedy every day. Your cough, or rather your child’s cough, should clear up within a few days. Definitely try this recipe and enjoy its excellent taste at the same time!
