Hello, I want to share a simple, but extraordinarily effective tip on how to clean the washing machine of limescale, deposits, dirt, as well as bacteria and mold, which can cling mainly to the rubber seal. I used to use vinegar regularly , but the washing machine repairman did not recommend it to me mainly because it can corrode some parts inside the machine and damage them – the same goes for citric acid.

I therefore now use these traditional remedies only sporadically – for example I put a glass of vinegar from time to time instead of fabric softener in the final rinse cycle. I only use citric acid to clean the detergent dispenser, which I always remove and clean this way. But let’s go back to the tip mentioned that my repairman gave me. Ordinary dishwasher tablets will be enough. Take 2 pieces, throw them into the drum and set the washing machine to 90 degrees and to the longest wash cycle . After it’s finished it’s like new and it will clean it even in places you cannot see.

These are the most effective methods

Against bacteria, viruses and mold

Tea Tree oil has the strongest antifungal effects of all natural substances, imagine that vinegar does not even come close to its effect against mold by half. You really need only a tiny amount – I put 5 drops into liquid detergent and I have peace of mind. You might think that doing laundry this way will be expensive, but it is not. If you buy, like me, a small bottle with a volume of 120 ml – it contains 2400 drops, which will last for 480 washes . One bottle lasted me two years. 🙂 And I don’t use it only for laundry, but also in summer against mosquitoes and ticks.

Against washing machine odor

Washing machines should be disinfected regularly so that they work properly and do not smell. For this purpose special cleaning products are available, but you can also use ordinary mouthwash. Pour half a glass of it where you put the detergent and then start the program. All fungi, mold and bacteria will die.

Ordinary baking powder does a very good job when cleaning the washing machine: pour one packet into the detergent compartment and start the wash cycle. I run the highest temperature and the longest cycle.
