The microwave oven is an indispensable helper in every kitchen, especially if you’re in a hurry and need to heat food quickly. Many microwaves today also offer advanced features, such as grilling or baking pizza. However, whether you have a microwave with only basic functions or a more advanced model, odors, grease and dirt build up inside during heating and baking. If you don’t wipe the oven after each use, grease can gradually accumulate and it can be difficult to remove.
How to easily clean a microwave?
There are several methods to clean the interior of a microwave. Popular options include the use of:
- special microwave cleaning sprays,
- vinegar,

- or wet wipes.
How can wet wipes help you?
Using wet wipes to clean a microwave isn’t a very well-known method, but it’s surprisingly effective. Moreover, it’s very quick and simple. All you will need is a pack of wet wipes that most of us commonly use on trips or for caring for children.
For this purpose we recommend using baby wipes, because they are usually made from a stronger material that is ideal for cleaning. An advantage of baby wipes is also their larger size.
How to do it?
- Remove approximately 10 wet wipes from the pack.
- Place them on the turntable inside the microwave.
- Turn the microwave on for 2 minutes on the normal heating setting.
This will release the moisture from the wipes and it will begin to spread across the entire interior surface of the microwave. After two minutes have passed, open the oven and start cleaning the interior walls of the oven with the hot wet wipes.
Why does it work?
The moisture from the wipes softens baked-on grease and dirt, which you can then easily wipe away. To make handling safe, we recommend wearing gloves during cleaning. No additional cleaning agent is needed – the wet wipes can handle it on their own.
