If you love vegetables, you can grow them on a balcony or in a garden. We present a few tips on how to enjoy fresh cucumbers. You can grow several kilograms of cucumbers at home from a single plant. And you won’t have to go to the store for that, because it will be enough to take a few steps onto the balcony.

Cucumbers like moist and sunny places where it won’t be windy

The ideal temperature for cucumber growth is 18-30 degrees. Cucumbers are best grown in a humid and warm spot. You can plant them in a box or a flowerpot, which you fill up to ¾ of the height with chopped grass. On top of that put a layer of soil. In the prepared substrate dig a hole about 10 cm deep, place the seedling and bury it in the ground.

Cucumbers like heat, so it is important to provide the plant with suitable soil that will be sufficiently moist. You can get a two-liter plastic bottle, which you fill with water, screw it on, turn it over and make a small hole in the bottom so that the water can freely drain. Then put the bottle neck-up into the flowerpot or box. Remember to refill the water regularly, because cucumbers must constantly be in moist soil.

Cucumbers are climbing plants

Cucumbers are climbers, so it is good to provide them with support that will be useful when they grow to a certain height. You can stick a few sticks into the soil right next to the seedling. The plant will wrap itself around the sticks as it grows. This will prevent the stems from breaking.

The seedlings must be watered generously. The water level should be above the soil in which the plant sits. When the water is absorbed into the soil, you can add another layer of soil and the cucumbers will be ready to grow. After that there’s nothing left but to wait for the seedlings to bear fruit and produce that you can eat every day. You can pickle the cucumbers or just snack on them. If you have enough, you can also give them to your relatives or plant another type of vegetable if it will fit on your balcony.
