Approximately every sixth person today suffers from an autoimmune disease, and most of them are women. It is essentially one of the 10 most common causes of death in women under 65.
The problem is that despite their illness many people are not even aware of it. They find out too late, after the disease has already managed to cause a lot of damage in the body.
There are several types of autoimmune diseases, such as:
- type 1 diabetes
- rheumatoid arthritis
- lupus
- thyroid disease
- multiple sclerosis
- psoriasis
- celiac disease
It is important that you recognize the symptoms of various illnesses that can trigger an immune system response and attack the body’s own tissues.
- weight loss (sometimes weight gain)
- insomnia
- joint and muscle pain and stiffness
- inability to concentrate
- fatigue
- abdominal pain, diarrhea or blood in the stool
- hair loss
- appearance of white spots on the skin or in the mouth
- dry eyes, skin or mouth
- increased blood clotting
- multiple spontaneous miscarriages
- sensitivity to heat or cold
Identifying causes, as well as making the correct diagnosis of the disease, is not easy. The manifestations of one type of disease often have identical symptoms to other autoimmune diseases.
However, one of the most effective methods is eliminating the types of foods that cause inflammation in the body.
This concerns primarily grains and legumes. They should be removed from your diet because of their lectin content, which is believed to cause the aforementioned autoimmune diseases.
A stool test that examines the amount of beneficial bacteria is also useful. If you have leaky gut or inflammation, you are very likely suffering from an autoimmune disease.
Make sure you take adequate steps to heal your gut so you can reverse this disease.
And finally, have a blood test for antibodies and also check whether it contains mercury, mycotoxins and other types of toxins.
If you suspect that you are suffering from an autoimmune disease, the first thing you will probably do is visit a doctor.
Unfortunately, most doctors focus only on suppressing the manifestations of the disease, and not on removing its causes.
In the case of autoimmune diseases you will be prescribed drugs such as immunosuppressants, steroids or anti-inflammatory medications.
Such treatment is effective at reducing pain and possibly the symptoms mentioned above, but it does not focus on the primary reasons why the immune system is functioning incorrectly.
Therefore the best thing you can do in this situation is try to understand the causes of your illness.
Solutions that come from understanding the causes are, from a longer-term perspective, more effective than taking medications that only help for a while.
In addition, long-term use of immunosuppressants is not recommended. In that case the risk of the outbreak of much worse infections and even cancer increases.
