When caring for your skin you probably use a variety of different cosmetic products. But did you know that many of them can be entirely replaced by ordinary ice cubes made from water?

Ice is highly versatile, easy to apply, accessible and, moreover, completely free.

Here are 10 ways you can use ice cubes to treat various skin problems and to improve the condition of your complexion.

1. They improve circulation
Ice cubes first cool the skin, which triggers the body’s response to restore temperature by increasing blood flow. This helps the skin receive nutrients better and restores its youthful appearance.

Simply wrap ice cubes in a handkerchief and in the morning, before your regular makeup, apply them to your face for a while. Gently massage the skin as you go, but avoid the eyes.

2. They ease sunburn
If you got sunburned while spending time in the sun, make ice cubes from blended cucumber or aloe vera gel.

Then put them in a paper or cotton handkerchief and apply to the burned areas. If you prefer, you can apply them directly without a handkerchief.

3. They reduce breakouts and inflammation
Ice cubes can also be used to reduce acne and pimples. They reduce redness, decrease swelling and relieve pain. They also treat inflammations from allergies and rubella.

First wash and dry your face with a towel. Put the ice cubes into a paper or cotton handkerchief and apply them to the acne. Leave on for about 1 minute.

Wait 5 minutes and repeat the whole process.

4. They reduce the appearance of and delay wrinkle formation

By maintaining proper hydration and good blood circulation you keep the skin wrinkle-free for as long as possible.

In addition to better nourishment from the blood, the cold from the ice also tightens the skin and pores, giving it a nicer appearance.

5. They work as a natural makeup base
Ice tightens pores and smooths the skin, so it essentially creates a natural base before applying makeup.

Simply rub an ice cube over your face before makeup, pat dry and then apply makeup, which you will need much less of than usual.

6. Remove puffiness from the eyelids
The skin around the eyes is very delicate, so do not keep ice cubes on it for too long.

This is especially true for the upper eyelids, where the eye could become too cold, so simply glide ice cubes wrapped in a handkerchief gently and quickly across them.

To enhance the effect, you can make ice cubes not only from water but also from milk or green tea, wrap them in a handkerchief or a plastic bag and gently massage the eyelids with them.

7. They help with exfoliation
Make ice cubes from milk mixed with a bit of mashed blueberries or cucumber. Their subsequent application removes dead skin cells from the facial skin.

First wash your face, dry it and then apply the ice cubes. At the end rinse your face again with water and dry with a towel.

8. They reduce skin oiliness
Ice cubes will help you reduce sebum secretion, leaving the skin fresh and smooth.

Simply wrap the cubes in a handkerchief and gently massage your face with them. At the end use a moisturizer, preferably a natural one.

9. They numb the skin before hair removal

If you are going to remove facial or eyebrow hair with wax strips, you can numb the area with ice cubes instead.

This will also help prevent redness and pain after hair removal.

10. A natural makeup remover
To remove makeup, rub your face with an ice cube. This avoids many of the side effects of commercial makeup removers.

If you want even more benefits of ice cubes for healthy and vital skin, make ice cubes as follows:

Add a teaspoon of turmeric, mashed cucumber and lemon juice to 200 ml of water, plus a tablespoon of aloe vera gel.

Pour the mixture into an ice cube tray and freeze. Then apply the ice cubes wrapped in a handkerchief to the facial skin.
